Details details details! I think the most important thing you can do for your own wedding is to add a little bit of you in the decor. So far I have acquired so many interesting objects that I think would make an excellent addition to our guestbook table. This weekends project was a mossy box! I plan on having this as a base for a sign - coming soon. Here is my way of doing this simple, cheap, and cute project.

What you will need:

  • Any type of box or crate that you desire — I found mine at a local thriftstore for 99 cents!
  • Dry Floral Foam
  • Moss sheet — 3.99 at Joann’s
  • Knife for cutting the foam
  • Sewing pinsĀ

Start by measuring the height of the foam to box. I knew I needed only a block of it because my box was small.

If you need to, trim the foam by cutting into it with a knife. The foam is quite soft and you can make the cuts with a simple steak knife.

Moss sheets are quite delicate, and also messy, just make sure you prepare it on a flat surface.

Next, simply lay the sheet over your foam like a blanket.

To adhere the sheet to the foam, use sewing pins with heads. Use as many as you like. I inserted 3 to each side.

Now comes the tricky part. Fitting that overstuffed foam into your box! Don’t worry about tearing the sheet, it’s actually very durable. Maneuver your moss foam into box.

All done! This project only took me 5 minutes to do, and amount spent was $5. I love how easy and creative this was. With my extra moss I plan on making a few more of different sizes. Try it out!
